Denver metro area suffers from poor air quality due to smoke from an Englewood fire

  • The fire started Monday at a waste management transfer station in Englewood.
  • South winds have diminished air quality in areas north of the fire, weather service says.
  • One worker was on treatment by paramedics but does not have life-threatening injuries.

Denver metro area suffers from poor air quality due to smoke. At 2400 West Union Avenue, two buildings got damaged by the fire; which broke out on Monday. Paramedics treated one worker, who did not have serious injuries; according to tweets from Denver fire officials. The “smoke that you see and smell this morning,” according to Englewood police; is a result of this specific fire.

The National Weather Service reports that southerly winds; have worsened the air quality in locations to the north of the fire.

According to the Denver Fire Department, the fire that raged all night; is still not totally out and is still being transported north by smoke.

“We don’t know what started the fire. Greg Pixley, assistant chief with the Denver Fire Department; stated that there are numerous opportunities with this one. It continued to burn all night.
