Candidates for the secretary of state primary make final appeal to voters. Candidate for secretary of state Anna Valencia held a rally on the Near North Side; with family, friends, and supporters. After what she referred to as a Republican assault on reproductive rights; the Chicago City Clerk emphasised the significance of municipal elections; in the current situation.
Valencia stated, “Our vote counts, especially in local elections. Just consider who will be the next governor and US senator; for our state. In Illinois, everything is possible.
Valencia received criticism for sending her husband, a lobbyist; and his clients several emails from a city account. She has, however, earned a number of significant endorsements; including Jesse White, a departing secretary of state.

Another strong candidate made a last-minute appeal to voters to turn up and cast their ballots. In the late afternoon on Monday; Alexi Giannoulias met with early voters in Lakeview. Two weeks ago, Giannoulias spoke with WGN News; after casting his ballot.
“June primary elections are unusual for people. As many people as possible should get the encouragement to participate in the process. Voting rights, crime, and gun legislation are just a few of the issues at hand, Giannoulias added.
