Pakistan to play Bangladesh in tri-nation series opener

Pakistan will visit New Zealand for the tri-nation series.
Green Shirts will face Bangladesh in their opening match.
Babar says it will be a great opportunity for players to gear up for the T20 World Cup.

Just before the T20 World Cup in Australia, the Pakistan cricket team will tour New Zealand for a T20 triangular series against Bangladesh and hosts New Zealand.

According to New Zealand Cricket’s stated and confirmed schedule, the series will be played in Christchurch between October 7 and 14, 2022.

On October 7, Pakistan will meet Bangladesh in the opening game of the triangular series. The men of Babar Azam will face New Zealand on the second day of the tournament.

On October 11, the green shirts will face the black caps in their second league match before facing Bangladesh on October 13.

The championship match will be on October 14.

After finishing the seven-match T20I series against England at home, the Pakistan team will depart for Christchurch on October 4, per the PCB. On October 2, the series versus England will end.

Babar Azam, the captain of the Green Shirts, is ecstatic about the opportunity to play in New Zealand prior to the World Cup in Australia, which he believes will put the finishing touches to Pakistan’s preparation.

“I am pleased that we will be featuring in the tri-series in New Zealand as it will help us arrive early and not only acclimatize for the T20 World Cup in Australia, but also give final touches to our preparations,” he said.

“I missed the last series in New Zealand due to a thumb injury and look forward to playing cricket in Christchurch against two good opponents,” said Babar in a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
