Asad Rauf, a former ICC elite umpire, now has a store in Pakistan where he sells clothing and footwear. Rauf, who officiated 170 games between 2000 and 2013, claimed in a recent interview that he was no longer interested in cricket and that he was managing the business for his staff rather than for himself.

It is important to note that the umpire was banned by the BCCI in 2016 after being found guilty of using corrupt methods and interfering with the game.

In a statement released in 2016, the BCCI stated that Mr. Asad Rauf had been “barred for a period of five years from umpiring, playing, or representing cricket in any form or in any way being linked with the activities of the Board and its Affiliates.”

Rauf was implicated in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing incident and accused of accepting gifts from bookmakers.

The phrase “Maine 2013 ki baad cricket se bilkul hai”

“Once I leave anything, I leave it totally,” Rauf remarked in an interview with Paktv.tv. “I haven’t been in touch with the game since 2013, because once I leave something, I leave it fully.

Rauf said: “Bhai, ye mera kaam nahi hai, ye mere staff ki rozi lagi hui hai, ye mai unke liye krta hu (This isn’t for me, this is the daily salary of my staff, I work for them)” as he explained his decision to run the shop despite having previously served on an exclusive panel of umpires.

Rauf officiated in 49 Tests, 98 ODIs, and 23 T20Is out of 170 games.

“I have a habit of giving everything I do my best effort. My career as a shopkeeper, which I began, is at its pinnacle. I excelled at cricket while playing. I then thought to myself, “I need to achieve the summit here as well,” when I first started out as an umpire. I’m not greedy. I’ve seen a lot of wealth and the entire world “Rauf stated.
