Father’s Day murder: “amazing” father shot dead in car next to his 7-year-old son

On Father’s Day, a ‘fantastic’ father and his seven-year-old son were shot and killed in this automobile.

The 30-year-old Leevi Matuni Maseuli was discovered slumped in the driver’s seat of his car, his upper body shot.

Sadly, on Father’s Day at around 8.45 p.m., authorities were called to a junction in the Long Beach neighbourhood of southern California with the driver’s son seated in the passenger seat.

Father-of-two Maseuli was treated by paramedics until they arrived, according to police, before being transferred to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to Lt. Dominick Scaccia of the Long Beach Police Department.

Despite the fact that the youngster was not hit by gunfire, Mr. Maseuli’s son was also transported to a hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

In an homage to her brother, Shalia referred to him as “an excellent, kind-hearted” father.

“Leevi was tragically snatched from us on Father’s Day,” she wrote. Two children, Leevi Jr. “LJ” at age 7 and Kalia at age 1, are left behind by him.

He was a wonderful, loving, and caring person. He was a father, uncle, brother, and son. He is incredibly adored and will always be missed.

According to ABC7, a murder investigation has been opened and no motive for the shooting has been identified.

Wally Hebeish, the LBPD chief, said: “It is abhorrent to commit such a horrific act under any circumstances, but it is more repugnant to do it on Father’s Day in front of the victim’s child.

“Our investigations are making every effort to find those responsible for the victim’s killing because this egregious disdain for our community will not go unpunished.

“No child should ever go through something like this, and I’m asking the public to kindly speak up with any information, no matter how minor, that could help us discover those guilty for this heartless act of violence,” the statement reads.
