“We really regret that we have badly affected the public’s faith; in the administration of the city,” an Amagasaki official told.

The data was copied onto the USB to make it simpler to send it to a contact centre; in the nearby city of Osaka.
According to the local government, it had data on every resident of the city; including names, genders, addresses, birthdays, and other private information.
It also contained some residents’ tax and bank account information.

The city asserts that the data was in encryption and the USB was password-locked; so there may be some good news.
