The Appalachian Regional Commission is funding four projects in West Virginia

  • The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded more than $340,000 for four projects in West Virginia.
  • The funding will help provide upgrades to lighting infrastructure and youth leadership training.
  • However, U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced the funding Tuesday.
  • Charleston Main Street’s Charleston West Side Gateway Lighting Project, $74,871 for the National Youth Science Foundation’s Youth Science Leadership Institute Program Planning, and $65,335 for Reconnecting McDowell’s Renaissance Village Equipment Installation.

The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded more than $340,000 for four projects in West Virginia.

However, U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced the funding on Tuesday. It will help provide upgrades to lighting infrastructure in Charleston, and the design of a multistate career pathways system.

Youth leadership training in sciences, and equipment improvements in the McDowell County Renaissance Village, the senators said in a news release.

However, the prizes include $100,000 each for The Education Alliance’s Comprehensive Plan for a Multistate Career Pathways System.
