Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson dies at 26

The death of Jaylon Ferguson, an outside linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, was announced on Wednesday. He was 26.

“We are profoundly saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson,” the team said in a statement. “He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality. We express our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn a life lost much too soon.”

Approximately at 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, officers from the Baltimore Police Department responded to a residence in the city’s northern district, where they reportedly found Ferguson unresponsive and being treated by medics. According to the police, Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene and never regained consciousness.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, there were no obvious signs of trauma or evidence of foul play. The medical examiner’s office received Ferguson’s body and will determine the cause of death. Overdose is still being considered by investigators, according to a police spokesperson.

The Ravens’ 2019 third-round pick, Ferguson, had taken part in every training camp. He seemed to have lost a lot of weight and put in a lot of work to be in the best shape of his career.

The Louisiana Tech football team tweeted, “The LA Tech Family mourns this morning’s tragic news of the sudden death of former Bulldog great, Jaylon Ferguson,”

We will remember his God-given talents on the field and his infectious personality off of it. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

Ferguson had two daughters and a son, all of whom are still young children.

Safarrah Lawson, Ferguson’s agent said, “He was a wonderful young man full of love and life,”

He will be remembered not just as a football player, but as a great father, son, brother and friend. The family asks for your continued prayers.”
