ISTANBUL: Turkish security services have detained 31 former military officers, including a former colonel, for their suspected ties to an attempted coup in 2016, as per a Turkish news agency.

Prosecutors alleged that the arrested military servicemen were suspected members of a movement led by the U.S.-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen and blamed by Ankara for the July 2016 coup.
Additionally, the Izmir Attorney General’s Office issued arrest orders for sixteen former military school students who remain at large.
