The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was looking for a suspect who fatally shot an active duty soldier during a social gathering at a Parkland home Saturday evening, Washington.
The sheriff’s office said in a written statement that the 25-year-old victim died at the scene after paramedics were unable to revive him. The man worked at Joint Base Lewis McCord.
JBLM identified him as US Army Sgt. Emmett Leviticus Moore of East Point, Georgia, on Sunday. He was a member of the 1-14 Cavalry Squadron, 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division at JBLM.
According to the statement, deputies were called to a home in the 1600 block of 112th Street S. shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, they discovered the victim inside the house with a gunshot wound. Deputies searched but were unable to locate the suspect who shot the man.
