While a data center’s electrical equipment is being energised; workers are occasionally required to service it.
They could also be exposed to chemicals like chlorine; which is used to sterilise the water circulated through computer and server liquid cooling systems.
In June 2015, a chlorine gas leak at an Apple data centre in Maiden, North Carolina; sent five people to the hospital.
