Uvalde police have agreed to participate with the investigation, Texas congressman

  • The development comes weeks after one of the deadliest school shootings in US history.
  • The shooting, which killed 19 children and two teachers, reignited a national debate on gun control.
  • It also spurred a rare albeit fraught; bipartisan effort to do more to curb gun violence in the country.

Law enforcement officials have ceased sharing new updates on the incident in recent weeks, causing alarm.

According to a US legislator leading the investigation; police in the Texas town of Uvalde have agreed to appear before a committee probing a massacre at a primary school last month; that killed 19 children and two teachers.

Dustin Burrows, a Republican from Texas; expressed his displeasure with Uvalde police; tweeting that the majority of people had fully cooperated with their inquiry “to help determine the facts”; and that he didn’t understand why the city’s police department “would not want the same.”
