The fire broke out at 4:28 a.m. in the city’s Jinshan District at the ethylene glycol factory of Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd’s chemical department.

The driver of a transport vehicle was found dead, and a company worker was found with minor injuries.

Firefighters and rescuers raced to the scene. The fire has been efficiently contained, and protective burning is being conducted, the company reported, adding that no influence on the local aquatic ecosystem has been discovered.
