The leaders of France, Germany, and Italy boarded a train destined for Kyiv on Thursday, a day after the US committed $1 billion in fresh arms for Ukraine’s beleaguered soldiers.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s soldiers are attempting to conquer a swath of eastern and southern Ukraine in the Donbas region, while Kyiv’s military is fighting back.

According to a French news agency video, the three leaders left Poland by train early in the morning.
“We, the European Union, need to send clear political signals to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, who have been resisting heroically for several months,” Macron said during a visit to Romania on Wednesday.
The presidents of the three European Union countries are visiting Kyiv for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
They will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is pressing for Kyiv’s EU membership.

The European Commission has stated that it will provide recommendations on Kyiv’s prospects for EU membership in the near future. The EU’s rotating presidency is held by France till the end of this month.
