Producers of the current Broadway version of Funny Girl revealed Wednesday that actresses Beanie Feldstein and Jane Lynch will be leaving the show soon.

The show’s staff announced on social media that the two actors will be leaving the production on September 25. Feldstein had declared on June 6 that she will be missing dates due to a positive COVID-19 test.

The official Twitter account for the performance was updated on Wednesday, “Beanie returns tomorrow!”

Adds, “14 weeks left to see Beanie Feldstein & Jane Lynch now through September 25th. Stay tuned for additional casting news to join Ramin Karimloo & Jared Grimes and the company of Funny Girl.”

The musical, which premiered on April 24, received a single Tony Award nomination for featured actor Grimes at the recent 2022 ceremony. Fanny Brice is played by Feldstein, while Mrs. Rosie Brice is played by Lynch. Eddie Ryan is played by Grimes, and Nick Arnstein is played by Karimloo.

The first Broadway production of Funny Girl premiered on March 26, 1964, and lasted until July 1967. At the time, it received eight Tony nominations, including best musical and best leading actress for Barbra Streisand’s performance as Fanny.

The 1968 film adaption, directed by William Wyler, received eight Oscar nominations and a victory for Streisand in her big-screen debut.
