DUBAI: The UAE government issued a warning to the public, reminding them that the rule requiring people to wear masks indoors to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is still in effect, and violators will be fined $816. (3,000 dirhams).
As per Dr. Taher Al-Ameri, spokeswoman for the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, wearing masks in closed locations is still required, according to a report from state news agency WAM.

Covid-19-related hospitalizations have also been on the rise, he added.
Dr. Al-Ameri blamed the rise in infections on some people’s failure to follow preventative measures like wearing a mask and isolating after testing positive.
“A lack of commitment to isolating was noted among a small group of people infected with Covid-19, which threatens the safety of the community and causes the spread of the virus, due to the lack of commitment of people,” Dr. Al-Ameri added.

In the meantime, the new rule will take effect on June 20 for schools in the emirate in preparation for the assessment period.
