White House: The US will continue to support Ukraine in order to put it in the “strongest possible position”

  • Russia, which has launched an aggressive and unprovoked war against Ukraine, has shown no willingness to cease it, so the US will continue to back Ukraine in its fight against the invaders.
  • It is Putin’s conflict, not Ukraine’s, to finish.
  • Ukraine must defend its country, and it has done so in an absolutely amazing manner,” stated the spokeswoman.

Russia, which has launched an aggressive and unprovoked war against Ukraine, has shown no willingness to cease it, so the US will continue to back Ukraine in its fight against the invaders.

According to White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre, who addressed at a press conference, this is the case.

“This is Putin’s battle.” Putin’s aggression is unprovoked action against the sovereignty of another country. It is Putin’s conflict, not Ukraine’s, to finish. Ukraine must defend its country, and it has done so in an absolutely amazing manner,” stated the spokeswoman. All wars, she pointed out, eventually come to a halt at the bargaining table.

“We hoped that it would end with negotiations.  But right now, we don’t see that coming from the Kremlin,” the spokesperson said. She stated that the US wants to ensure that “we put Ukraine in the greatest possible position so that they can accomplish it when the time comes.”

As previously reported, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin indicated on Monday that his country, along with other partners, was prepared to fully contribute to Ukraine’s defensive weaponry needs.
