In September 2015, Elizabeth II surpassed her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria as the longest-serving British monarch.

She is second only to Louis XIV of France, who reigned for 72 years and 110 days from 1643 to 1715, making him the world’s longest-reigning monarch.

Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who reigned for 70 years and 126 days between 1946 and 2016, has been dethroned by the Queen.
