In a letter to the LG, the apex RWA of CR Park said that MCD’s veterinary department and local police station employees had “harassed and issued closure notices” to fish vendors at Market Nos. 1 and 2.

Stating that the platforms were allotted to the vendors by Delhi Development Authority, EBDP said, “Now, suddenly after three decades, MCD issues closure notices and has asked the police to take action against the violators. We are of the opinion that the closure of markets is not the solution. The authorities and other stakeholders should find an alternative solution so that the poor fish platform owners are not deprived of their livelihood. The residents too wouldn’t be deprived of their staple diet.”
