Dame Deborah James puts on pink wig as she sends her support to Race For Life participants

Dame Deborah James took to her Instagram story to wish everyone participating in the Race For Life for Cancer Research luck.

The 40-year-old You, Me, and the Big C podcast host explained that she had planned to participate in the fundraising in her wheelchair but would now be supporting from afar.

She wore a pink wig, lipstick, and dark makeup as she shared her tale on social media to motivate others who will be running for the cancer charity.

‘I’m gutted not to be there, my sister was going to push me around in a wheelchair but for different reasons I’m not going to make it tonight,’ Dame Deborah told her fans.

‘I think I’ll do my own little mini one at my parents’ house, but if you are taking part I’m wishing you all the luck.

‘Run for your own life, run to celebrate life or in memory of somebody else, whatever you’re doing it for, have fun all the way. And thank you for raising vital funds.’

She also praised individuals who had raced for her BowelBabe team in previous years, with over 10,000 people participating and raising over £470,000.

Dame Deborah is also lobbying to have the warning signals of bowel cancer placed on toilet paper packaging in an attempt to save lives. She is currently receiving hospice care at home after no longer being able to receive active bowel cancer treatment.
