PESHAWAR: Following an increase in the price of flour, members of Nanbai Association on Wednesday held a protest in Peshawar against expensive wheat flour and demanded to slash its price.
The protesters threatened that they would shut down tandoors, if the flour price was not reduced.
“Outages of power and gas should be ended and the administration should determine price of a roti,” they demanded.
The Nanbai Association president said if the flour price kept increasing like this then they would not be able to sell a 150 gramme roti for Rs15. He said price of a roti should also be enhanced.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday said on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, supply of flour at Rs40 per kilogram had been started in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a statement, the information minister said that 100 mobile stores were established to fulfill the promise of providing flour to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at affordable price.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said for this purpose, the province had been divided into Abbottabad and Peshawar zones. She said the supply of inexpensive flour would be gradually extended to the whole province.
On June 2, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had approved the provision of subsidised flour to the masses across the province.
KP Minister for Higher Education had told media after the cabinet meeting that under the subsidy, the 20 kg bag would be sold at Rs 980 and 10 kg bag at Rs 490 from June, adding the supply of wheat would be ensured to flour mills this month after which the subsidized flour would be made available at specific shops and sale points.
The cabinet had expressed grave concern over the reduction in the number of seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the National Assembly.
The cabinet had also expressed concern over alleged misappropriation in the voter lists as reported by the public through complaints and decided to take up the matter with the Election Commission and if it was not resolved, the matter would be taken to the court.
