Japan MoFA Odawara emphasises cooperation with UAE

  • Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs met with Dr Sultan Al Jaber, CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), on June 6.
  • The two ministers discussed climate change cooperation.
  • Odawara also offered his condolences on the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the late President of the UAE.

DUBAI: Odawara Kiyoshi, Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Special Envoy to Japan, and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), on June 6.

Odawara stated that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative will continue to strengthen Japan-UAE cooperation in a variety of fields.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Al Jaber noted that the strategic partnership between Japan and the United Arab Emirates is strong and that he wishes to strengthen it.

The two ministers discussed climate change cooperation and the Joint Crediting Mechanism.

Odawara also expressed his condolences to the late President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and pledged to work closely with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the newly elected president.

The Japanese minister stated that he intends to strengthen Japan’s good relations with the UAE.

The two presidents also discussed the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, notably Yemen, and reaffirmed their commitment to continue working closely together.
