Naseem Shah, a Pakistan pace bowler, returned home from his county cricket spell with Gloucestershire after his father became ill.
Naseem Shah, 19, signed for the first half of the summer but was forced to withdraw due to knee injury, prompting Gloucestershire to bring in Mohammad Amir as a substitute. Naseem Shah has been in the Vitality Blast three times since then, taking five wickets.
On Monday, the club reported that he had returned home “due to a family issue,” with the hope that he would be able to return to the UK soon.
“We fully support Naseem’s decision to return home to meet his father,” said Steve Snell, Gloucestershire’s performance director. Of course, we’ll miss him on the field, but Naseem’s health and those of his loved ones take precedence over any cricketing concerns.
