After nearly drowning in a hotel pool in Majorca, a six-year-old kid died in hospital.
After three days in intensive care, he died yesterday afternoon at Son Espases Hospital in Palma.
Corey was said to be on the first day of a family vacation, when the tragedy struck.

After nearly drowning in a hotel pool in Majorca, a six-year-old kid died in hospital.

Corey Aughey, from north Belfast, was rushed to hospital in a ‘serious condition’ on Thursday after being revived by emergency services at a four-star hotel in the resort of Sa Coma.

After three days in intensive care, he died yesterday afternoon at Son Espases Hospital in Palma, the island capital.

Following Corey’s death, Spain’s National Police initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

A representative for the National Police in Palma stated that more information was still pending and that they could not comment at this time.

When the tragedy struck, Corey was said to be on the first day of a family vacation.

The family’s hotel has not been named, but it is thought to be a four-star place in the resort, which is not far from where the popular reality TV show Love Island is filmed.

According to unconfirmed local stories, Corey’s parents were unable to locate him for several minutes before spotting him floating face-down in the sea.

After administering CPR, emergency responders are said to have revived him before bringing him to the hospital.

Corey’s death comes just weeks after a British baby drowned in a Costa Blanca swimming pool tragedy.

On May 25, Freddie Joseph Briggs drowned in his parents’ pool at Aigues, near Benidorm, prompting the local council to declare three days of mourning.

At his funeral service in Belfast, where he was baptized before being buried in a neighboring cemetery, tributes were offered to the 19-month-old youngster.

Corey’s relatives and well-wishers have paid homage to the ‘fun-loving’ kid after his passing.

Darci Aughey posted, “You always were the most gorgeous person in the world and now you’re the most gorgeous sunset and brightest star in the sky.”

Gary Larkham added: ‘They say a picture tells a thousand words, this picture to me was Corey all over always loved a birthday party and couldn’t wait to blow the candles out and patiently waited on his turn to blow them out too.”
