The defamation trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard ended on Wednesday.

In his libel case against his ex-wife, a Virginia jury awarded Depp more than $10 million, claiming that the Aquaman actress defamed the Pirates of the Caribbean in a contentious 2018 Washington Post story.

Now, Heard’s lawyer claims that the jury in the defamation case was ‘confused,’ and that Depp, 58, benefited from ‘power, fortune, and fame.’

She also stated that Heard intends to appeal the judgement.

Appearing on Today, Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Charlson Bredehoft, said “an enormous amount of evidence” that would have helped Heard’s case was suppressed during the trial.

Bredehoft also claimed that Heard lost the suit because she was ‘demonized,’ adding, “a number of things were allowed in this court that should not have been allowed, and it caused the jury to be confused.”

In an interview with CNN, Heard’s attorney stated that the jury voted in Depp’s favour on all of his allegations because of his ‘money, power, and reputation.’

Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against Heard over an op-ed she penned in 2018, in which she accused him of physically assaulting her throughout their marriage.
