If upgraded missile systems are provided to Ukraine, Putin has threatened that he will strike new targets, adding that additional weaponry sales to Kyiv are intended at “prolonging the conflict.”
“We will make the proper conclusions and utilise our arms…. to strike at those targets which we have not yet hit,” Russian President Vladimir Putin stated, without identifying which targets he was referring to.
Ukraine has been looking for Multiple Rocket Launch Systems (MLRS) like the M270 and M142 HIMARS to attack Russian forces’ rear troops and weapons caches.
While Kyiv has stated that it will not strike targets within Russia, there are concerns that giving such weapons may lead to direct conflict between the US and its NATO partners and Moscow.
