Tumblr launched a feature that will prevent posts from being reblogged

  • Tumblr reblog controls will be available on the web and iOS today, with Android to follow soon.
  • Users can pick between two reblog options while writing a post.
  • If you don’t want your posts reblogged by others, you can turn off the reblog feature.

Tumblr states in the post that the option was requested by users who said that being able to regulate reblog settings would give them a sense of security. The business claims that even if a user blocks someone else after the post is posted, the barred user will still be unable to reblog the message.

The blog post reads, “This change gives you control over your own posts, and so will improve your posting experience,” added,  “Ultimately, better posting means a better Tumblr.”

Users may be able to circumvent postings that have reblogs disabled by capturing screenshots or reposting material. However, the new function allows users to have greater control over how their information is shared and who may interact with it.

Other social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook, have added new features to give users more control over their content. In April, Twitter started testing a “unmentioning” feature, which allows users to untag themselves from discussions where they have been tagged. This week, Meta made a substantial change to the default choice for who may see a post on Facebook.
