  • The queen will, however, attend the beacon lighting ceremony Thursday evening.
  • She has been taking a rest during her four-day Platinum Jubilee celebration.

After a rigorous day of Trooping the Colour events left her feeling “some discomfort.” The palace said on Thursday that Queen Elizabeth is taking a rest during her four-day Platinum Jubilee celebration. The queen has announced that she will not be attending St. Paul’s Cathedral’s National Thanksgiving Service on Friday.

On Thursday evening, she will, however, attend the beacon lighting ceremony. According to PEOPLE, a source for Buckingham Palace said, “The Queen immensely enjoyed today’s Birthday Parade and Flypast but did endure some pain.”Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty with great reluctance has concluded that she will not attend,” the statement stated.

The Queen’s episodic mobility issues flared up during the day on Thursday, according to a source. She was seen greeting and watching the flyover with members of the royal family while using her cane on the palace balcony.

The insider adds that, given the physical demands of tomorrow’s ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral, it’s a regretful but fair decision. Rather than a firm pledge, the Queen hoped she would come.

In the meantime, The Queen has been experiencing mobility issues in recent months and is finding it difficult to stand for lengthy periods of time. She’s been walking with a cane and has even expressed her dissatisfaction with her mobility, joking at a face-to-face meeting, “Well, as you can see, I can’t move!” Several members of the royal family will attend Friday’s Thanksgiving Service, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who travelled from California for the Platinum Jubilee.
