One of the first smartwatches to hit the market, Samsung’s Galaxy Gear, contained a camera. It wasn’t a huge hit, and smartwatch cameras were swiftly forgotten as Apple Watch took over a major section of the market.

However, according to a recently discovered patent; Apple is still considering (or has investigated) adding a camera to the Apple Watch.

“The present disclosure assumes that the entities in charge of the collecting, analysis, disclosure, transfer, storage; or other use of such personal information data would follow well-established privacy policies and/or privacy practises,” it says.
Apple was previously granted a patent for a concept; in which an integrated camera would be placed beneath an Apple Watch display.
