US will supply Ukraine with a advanced rocket system Himars

As Russia’s war on Ukraine continues, US Vice President Joe Biden plans to assist Kyiv with modern rocket launchers capable of striking long-range Russian targets with “precision.”

On Wednesday, the $700 million weapons package is expected to be announced.

According to authorities, the guns are equipped with Himars, high mobility artillery rocket launchers that can attack targets up to 80 kilometres (50 miles) away, according to Reuters.

According to Reuters, the weaponry package also includes ammunition, counterfire radars, a number of air surveillance radars, more Javelin anti-tank missiles, and anti-armour weapons.

The United States just approved $54 billion in aid to Ukraine to help the war-torn country recover.

In an op-ed published in the New York Times on Tuesday, Biden stated that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will be “ended through diplomacy.”

The US, on the other hand, will provide “Ukrainians with more advanced rocket systems and ammunition that will enable them to more precisely strike key targets on the battlefield in Ukraine,” he added.

While Ukraine has requested longer-range missile weapons from its partners, Biden stated on Tuesday that he would “not send rocket systems to Ukraine that could hit targets well inside Russian territory.”

As a result, Himars will not include a variant with a range of 186 miles (300 kilometres) in case the Ukrainians employ it to strike far inside Russia.
