Actress Soni Razdan has passed on not just her acting abilities but also her stunning looks to her daughter Alia Bhatt. Alia’s portrayal in Gangubai Kathiawadi is remarkably similar to Soni’s performance in the 1983 film Mandi, as seen by a video clip from Soni’s film Mandi. When a spectator uploaded the video on Twitter, other individuals agreed that Alia looked a lot like Soni from Gangubai Kathiawadi.
On Twitter, a fan posted a video clip of Mandi and said, “In the late 70s @Soni_Razdan acted in #Mandi as sex worker, now @aliaa08 in #GangubaiKathiawadi, both have tremendous resemblance, both are best actresses. Soni then looks ditto Alia of now.”
“Oh gosh a blast from the past all right!” Soni said in response to the video, accompanied with a blushing emoji and heart emoticons.

Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Neena Gupta, Ila Arun, Naseeruddin Shah, Amrish Puri, Pankaj Kapur, Om Puri, Satish Kaushik, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and others were among the cast members of Mandi. Mandi was directed by Shyam Benegal and was based on Ghulam Abbas’ short novel Aanandi. The story focused on a brothel in the midst of a city that certain politicians desired for a different reason.
Alia played the eponymous character of a brothel owner and politician in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed the film, which received positive reviews for Alia’s performance.
