President Macky Sall of Senegal has removed his health minister; as the country mourns the deaths of eleven newborns in a fire at a hospital in the western city of Tivaouane.

According to a government announcement, Health Minister Diouf Sarr was removed of his duties on Thursday; and replaced by Marie Khemesse Ngom Ndiaye, a senior ministry official.
Sarr was in Geneva for the World Health Assembly at the time of the fire at the Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh Hospital; which happened late Wednesday. According to the health ministry, he cut short his trip and returned to Senegal on Thursday.
