PM Shehbaz gives approval to accept PTI lawmakers resignations: sources

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given his approval to accept the resignation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers to National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in a bid to maximise his electoral strength in the lower house of the parliament, sources informed Bol News on Sunday.

The move was decided to give tough time to the PTI and its chief Imran Khan. The resignations will be gradually accepted within the time span of two to three days. By-elections will be called on the vaccant seats.

The coalition partners will contest the by-elections through a seat adjustment understanding. Initially, resignations will be accepted of the PTI core leaders and Sheikh Rashid.

Meanwhile, PTI chief Imran Khan announced  to move Supreme Court on Monday in regards to the right of the nation to protest. He was addressing a meeting with senior anchorpersons in CM House KPK.

Imran Khan maintained during the meeting that it has been fake propaganda against him that he was upset with some of the party workers for failure in bringing out the crowd.

He opined that a huge crowd came out on roads in Islamabad, Lahore and other major cities and braved the worst cruelty of police during the Azadi march.

Imran Khan also said the situation which emerged on May 25 was never witnessed in history not even during the eras of President Musharraf and President Ayub Khan.

The PTI chairman while touching on the further plan of action in regards to the protest against the ‘imported government’ said that May 31 is the deadline for the government.

“If the government failed to dissolve the Assemblies and no announcement of the date of polls is made then we will disclose the date for the next sit-in’” he said while adding that on Monday PTI will contact Supreme Court in regard to know about the nation’s right to protest peacefully.

He also maintained that PTI is the only political party in Pakistan that has no militant wing unlike other political parties adding that PTI has hopes only with SC.

Khan also underscored that PTI and its workers will leave with arrangements and proper planning for the sit-in this time keeping the situation of May 25 in mind.

Imran Khan named Ayaz Sadiq, Ahsan Iqbal and Malik Ahmed that these PML-N leaders are aware that Nawaz Sharif has given orders to announce the date of polls by June 19.
