Pressure on Russia is a matter of saving lives, according to Zelensky

Pressure on Russia is a matter of saving lives, according to Zelensky

Every day of delay, weakness and numerous debates or ideas to “appease” the aggressor at the price of the victim results in new slain Ukrainians and new threats to everyone on the European continent.

The Donetsk airport shut down on May 26, 2008, exactly eight years ago. There’s still a message to be had here: “Please pay attention! Donetsk Airport will temporarily cease flights starting at 7 a.m. The airport’s restart of operations will be notified as well.”

No one could have predicted how events in Donbas would unfold over the next several years on that day. Then, after a full-scale invasion, throughout Ukraine. There was no way of knowing how long the term “temporary” would be postponed in this notification.

But there are two things that can be asserted with certainty on that day, and any day after that, even today.

First. Ukraine will always be a sovereign nation that will never be broken. The only question is how much our people will pay for their freedom, and how much Russia will pay for its stupid war against us.

Second, and finally. If the world had regarded the crisis in Ukraine as if it were its own, the disaster may have been avoided. If the world’s powerful nations had not played games with Russia, but instead pressed hard to terminate the conflict.

Take a look at the scenario right now. Consider how long the European Union has been attempting to reach an agreement on a sixth set of sanctions on Russia. It currently receives about a billion euros per day in energy supply from Europeans.

Of course, I appreciate our allies who are pushing for more measures. But how did those who oppose the sixth package gain such clout? Why do they continue to wield so much authority, even in intra-European procedures?

Consider how many weeks the world has failed to stop the Russian banking system – all banks, without exception – denying the aggressor the ability to fund not just the war against us, but also the policy of causing global divisions and crises.
