ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has attended the traditional Pakistan Breakfast on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos on May 25, 2022, a statement said on Thursday.
Pakistan Breakfast is Pakistan’s signature event which is held at every WEF annual meeting to discuss Pakistan’s economic and political situation.
The breakfast hosted by Pathfinders in collaboration with Martin Dow Group was attended by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Federal Minister for Environment and Climate Change Sherry Rehman, Federal Minister of State on Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar along with government officials and members of the business community.
Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto Zardari shared Pakistan’s perspective on the economic and social impacts of the evolving geopolitical developments. Pakistan will never compromise on its national interest whenever it engages with any other country diplomatically or economically, he stressed.
The minister was of the view that the people can demonstrate on domestic and global level that Pakistan is a functioning state who is willing to help itself, and then the international community will also understand its potential and help the country grow further.
While stressing upon better relations with neighbouring countries, Bilawal Bhutto said that soon Pakistan would be enjoying friendly relations with all of its neighbours including India.
The minister also shed light on several other issues including the challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, food and energy security, and climate change.
World Economic Forum Managing Director Jeremy Jurgen also shared his views on global trade facts and opportunities specifically for developing countries.
The breakfast session was moderated by Pathfinder Group Co-founder Zarrar Sehgal and shared the objectives of bringing such interactive sessions.
Sehgal said that Pakistan has huge potential for investors and may play a pivotal role in regional growth, while Martin Dow Group Head Ali Akhai also shared his views on the occasion.
Pakistan Breakfast is one of Pakistan’s major events which has been conducted regularly on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum and for the last many years it has been sponsored by Pathfinders Group and Martin Dow Group.
The WEF annually brings together political and business leaders as well as representatives from international organisations, civil society and youth representations from across the world to deliberate and identify pathways to overcome economic, social and environmental challenges.
