YouTube Music will now try to recommend which of your Cast-enabled speakers you should use to listen to music. It’s an improvement over the old method, which included the app just listing all of the Cast-enabled devices on your network in alphabetical order.
If you’re anything like us, this may require sifting through a list of a half-dozen speakers, even if you only use one on a daily basis.
Attempting to Cast from the YouTube Music app now brings up a new menu, with a “Suggested” device highlighted above the regular alphabetical list, according to ChromeUnboxed. In an email to The Verge, Google spokesperson Paul Pennington confirmed the new functionality and stated that suggestions are based on usage, history, and device type.
The function, which is exclusive to YouTube Music, is now available to all iOS and Android users. Just keep in mind that unless you’ve uploaded your own music, you’ll need to be a YouTube Music subscriber to cast music from the app to an external device.
