The Dallas Mavericks beat the Golden State Warriors, and Luka Doncic scored 30 points to keep their Western Conference playoff chances alive.
The Mavs were behind 3-0 before winning 119-109 to force a fifth game on Thursday in the best-of-seven series.
In the 75-year history of the NBA, no team has ever come back from a 3-0 hole to win a best-of-seven playoff series.
“We’re all in this together. We know it will be difficult, but we must stick together,” Doncic explained.
“Today, our defense was outstanding. That’s how we have to play, and when we do, we’re a dangerous team” said the Slovenian, who had 14 rebounds and nine assists in the game.
Because of a leaking ceiling that caused puddles to form at one end of the Mavs’ court, the fourth game in the series was delayed by 20 minutes at halftime.
The team was more efficient than their home court, and their victory was built on a 19-2 second-quarter scoring spree.
Dorian Finney-Smith led Dallas with 23 points, Reggie Bullock had 18, Jalen Brunson had 15, Maxi Kleber had 13, and Spencer Dinwiddie had ten.
Coach Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors speaks out against gun violence in the United States. “We believe it’s just one game at a time,” Dallas coach Jason Kidd said.
“Now we have to figure out how to win on the road.” We can’t afford to get ahead of ourselves.”
“It’s still 3-1, and Golden State is a difficult opponent. But we’ve already won there. All we have to do now is keep the ball and make shots.”
Golden State is looking for their seventh NBA Finals victory, while Dallas has only won once, in 2011.
