PCB denies reports regarding WI series postponement

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) clarifies that the reports regarding the postponement of the Pakistan-West Indies home ODI series are false.

As per PCB Director Media Sami-ul-Hassan Burney, there is no proposal in regards to the series postponement.

The first ODI will be played on June 8 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Previously, PCB also revealed that due to political issues in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Multan has been considered as the backup for the series.

Sami confirmed that the board is waiting for the official confirmation.

“Holding any event in Pakistan would not be possible without the support of the local administration,” Sami said.

“Matches will be held at the venue where the green signal will be received, time is short for decisions,” he added.

The board, earlier this week, announced that the national squad will assemble in Rawalpindi for a training camp.

The West Indies is scheduled to land in Pakistan on June 5.

“It is important to know where the visitors have to reach before booking while the broadcasters and their equipment must also arrive on time. It is also important to know whether they will be delivered to Rawalpindi or Multan,” he added.

“We also have to manage the logistics needs, including the hotel. We hope that the government will guide us by the end of this week, and the series will go according to its schedule,” Sami concluded.

Both teams will play three ODIs from June 8 to 12 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The matches will be a part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

The PCB announced the 16-member squad on Monday. The board also added that there will be no bio-secure bubble.
