Luka Doncic’s 30 points helped Dallas Mavericks’ NBA Western Conference finals series hopes alive.
Dallas Mavericks thrashed Golden State Warriors 119-109 in game 4. The Warriors are leading the series 3-1.
The Mavericks, desperate to avoid a clean sweep, put on a resurgent offensive display to force a fifth game in San Francisco on Thursday.
No team has been able to make a comeback after a 3-0 deficit in the NBA’s history. However, after Tuesday’s performance, the Mavs have at least something to keep finals hopes alive while the Warriors only need one more win to make it to the Conference finals.
In the previous three games, Doncioc has scored the most for his team, but in Tuesday’s game, he received some support from his teammates with six scoring in double figures.
Among the top scorers after Doncic was Dorian Finney-Smith (23) and Reggie Bullock (18).
Doncic praised his team’s defensive performance after the Mavs restricted the Warriors’ top-scorer, Stephen Curry, to just 20 points.
“Our defense was amazing today,” said Doncic, who finished with 14 rebounds and nine assists.”That’s how we’ve got to play, when we play like this we’re a dangerous team.”
Asked if he felt the Mavs could still salvage a series victory, Doncic replied: “You never know. We’re going to stick together. It’s going to be tough, we know that but we have to stay together.”
The Mavs coach Jason Kidds said that the team is just a defeat away from elimination.
“We believe it’s just one game at a time, we did our part tonight and found a way to win tonight,” Kidd said. “The next part is to find a way to win on the road.
“We can’t get ahead of ourselves. It’s still 3-1 and Golden State is a tough place to play. But we’ve won there before. We just have to take care of the ball and make shots.”
The Dallas showed an unexpected comeback after being outplayed in the last three games by the six-time NBA champions.
Both sides will play their next game on May 27 at Chase Center.
