Update, Karachi’s situation during Long March

A heavy contingent of police deployed within the limits of Karachi Airport and many Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers in Karachi have been arrested by Sindh Police including Member National Assembly Aftab Siddiqui in a bid to stop the party’s gathering at the Numaish Chowrangi today.

A huge number of police mobiles were deployed at Star Gate within the airport to quell protests by PTI workers and dozens of female police officers were also positioned near the CAA Club at Star Gate.

As per details, strict security arrangements have been made around Millennium Mall with SHO Gulistan Johar and SHO Shahra Faisal Nafri at spot. In regard to the current situation, forces have also been alerted at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, and they are instructed for immediate detention of PTI leaders at the airport.

On the other hand, Sindh police have raided the residence of MPA Rabistan Khan and MNA Abdul Shakoor Shad and arrested as many as three workers from Shah Faisal Colony. The law enforcement authorities arrested one worker from Malir and seven from Lyari. Meanwhile, Sindh Police have informed that PTI members Saifur Rehman and Ataullah have been given jail custody.

However, Imran Khan has appealed to the workers, supporters and people from all walks of life to join him at D-Chowk Islamabad by 3 pm today. In a video message, Imran Khan issued from Peshawar urged the general public particularly from Islamabad and Rawalpindi to reach the D-Chowk to get their real independence. The former prime minister announced that he would meet his followers at Islamabad’s Srinagar Highway on May 25.
