Govt starts sealing Punjab’s exit, entry routes to foil Azadi March

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has started sealing all the exit and entrance points of Punjab by placing containers on the main arteries in a bid to abort the Azadi March on Tuesday.

The government has placed containers on the GT Road as well because of which citizens are facing much trouble.

On the other hand, Pakistan Goods Transport Association has convened an emergency meeting to mull over strike across the country. Pakistan Goods Transport Association General Secretary Tariq Nabeel said the government was confiscating their containers. They warned that they would hold strike, if their containers were not released.

Tariq Nabeel said the confiscation of containers had incurred a loss of millions of rupees on transporters. He said the government had illegally seized hundreds of containers.

Earlier, Punjab Police launched a crackdown on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership ahead of the long march announced by PTI chief Imran Khan.

As per details, Punjab police have conducted raids in different cities including Lahore, Rajanpur, Khanewal, and other areas to arrest PTI workers and leaders.

Ahead of PTI’s long march on May 25, PTI leader Hammad Azhar’s residence was surrounded by the police to arrest him and other PTI members.
