Johnny Depp’s lawyers are now questioning psychiatrist David R Spiegel.
We finally get to the questioning after a long (and tense) debate about whether his involvement in this case is “unethical” due to the Goldwater rule.
According to Depp’s lawyer, the doctor “recognized traits” rather than making a diagnosis of Depp.
Dr. Spiegel agrees, but adds that “cluster B features,” such as “narcissistic personality disorder,” are risk factors for intimate partner violence (IPV).”
The doctor is also questioned regarding Heard’s medical checkup and the two emotional problems she was reported to have.
The court had previously heard from an expert witness for Depp’s legal team who said she had bipolar disorder and histrionic personality disorder.
According to Depp’s lawyer, they are also “cluster B qualities,” putting her at danger of committing IPV.
Dr. Spiegel claims that he was not requested to evaluate Heard, but rather Depp.
