Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has declared PTI MNA Raja Riaz Ahmad as the Leader of the Opposition. The Speaker decided in favour of Raja Riaz Ahmad on having the support of the majority of the members of the Opposition in the National Assembly.

The Speaker in pursuance of rule 39 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 2007 declared the Leader of the Opposition. Notification to this effect was issued by the National Assembly Secretariat on Friday.

The PTI MNA Raja Riaz Ahmad had the support of 16 members from the opposition whereas GDA MNA Ghaus Bukhsh Khan Mehar was supported by 6 Members.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s Vice President Maryam Nawaz reacted to Election Commission Pakistan (ECP)’s decision by saying that snatching Punjab from the lion is impossible.

She said that no matter what the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) says the dream will be crined.

She said that Punjabis were furious over handing over their province to Farah Gogi for looting and destruction.

Maryam Nawaz has said that Imran Khan must have felt ashamed today as he was abusing the Election Commission of Pakistan day and night.

Notably, the Election Commission of Pakistan has ruled disqualification for 25 deviant members of the PTI Punjab Assembly.

On the other hand, Maryum Nawaz has appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take the suo motu notice of former DG FIA Bashir Ahmed Memon’s statement and former advisor to the prime minister Shehzad Akbar.

She said, She said that Imran Khan is used to telling a lie as he has told a lie a number of times including about foreign conspiracy and now he was claiming that his life was under threat.
