The Calgary Flames announced on Thursday that the Red Lot viewing party for Games 2 and 3 of their playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers will be cancelled due to the storm that hit the city the day before.
The NHL hockey team announced in a statement that the viewing parties on Friday and Sunday had to be cancelled “due to damage to the location from yesterday’s windstorm, and severe weather in the forecast.”
Thousands of fans can watch Flames playoff games on many giant screens outside on the Stampede Grounds for free thanks to the Red Lot.
Because of the wind gusts, the Flames’ watching party for Game 1 versus the Oilers was cancelled on Wednesday. The wind was so strong that it blasted a hole in the rear of a stage at the event, according to a Global News team on the scene.
Despite the bad news concerning the Red Lot, the Flames stated on Thursday that the Scotiabank Saddledome will be open for Game 3 on Sunday when they play in Edmonton, so supporters may gather for a “C of Red Family Viewing Party.”
The Flames stated, “Tickets will be free but must be reserved in advance.” “Each person will be limited to four tickets.” We respectfully request that you only save what you know you will utilize.
The Flames mentioned that the arena will be “at a lower capacity for this occasion” due to the indoor watching party.
