ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued notice to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the plea of senior anchorperson Sami Ibrahim.
The court headed by Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah heard a petition filed by President Bol News Sami Ibrahim over the harassment by FIA and directed the agency to ensure the implementation of SOPs prior to any disciplinary action against the journalist.
At the outset of the hearing, CJ inquired about the action taken by FIA. To which, the court was informed that FIA has sent another notice to Sami Ibrahim.

Sami Ibrahim said that the same allegations were made by FIA in the second notice that were mentioned in the press release.
The IHC issued notice to the parties and adjourned the hearing till May 26.
Notably, FIA summoned the anchorperson in person on May 13, under PECA’s Section 20, which criminalises defamation, according to the notification. The FIA notification stated that the journalist’s video “spread false and baseless claims against high government personnel.”
