Hackers made robocaller to waste time of Russian authorities, and you can listen in on the conversations

Obfuscated Dreams of Scheherazade, a hacktivist organization, has constructed a bot that sets up a conference call between different government institutions, making each believe the other initiated the call.

The declared goal is to squander government resources and clog phone lines. During Russian business hours, automated spam calls never cease.

The hacking gang set up a webpage on Wednesday where anybody may start and listen in on one of these calls.

Waste Russian Time Today is the name of the website. Users may scroll down to the phone icon on the site, dial a random Russian agency, and listen to the commotion as they try to figure out who is phoning who and why.

Knowing Russian will aid incomprehension. Even still, participants are sure to become enraged, as authorities have most certainly been dealing with ridiculous calls all day – fury and irritation sound the same in whatever language.

Regardless of whether anyone visits the site, the bot continues to make calls without human interaction to waste as much time as possible for the agencies.

“If youʼre on the phone, you canʼt drop bombs or coordinate soldiers,” the group said. “[Don’t speak Russian?] Block the lines! You can always guess something from the voices. And the more Duma employees are irritated, the better.”

Since the website went online today, 5,186 calls have been made from it.

Thousands of government personnel’s phone numbers are now used by the organization, including Putin’s press corps, Duma staffers, Military Police, and the FSB (Russian Secret Service). From mid-level bureaucrats to high-ranking politicians, the list is long. However, the organization is looking for more.

Obfuscated Dreams of Scheherazade is always on the lookout for new methods to expand its database. Emails from anyone with more phone numbers will be accepted by the hackers. They also urge anyone who wants to get more involved to do their study to establish a larger library.

Users who call from the internet remain completely anonymous, and their voices are not heard. According to Obfuscated Dreams of Scheherazade, muting the third-party user prevents them from divulging any identifying information to the other people on the connection.
