IG Sindh removed over recent terror attacks in Karachi

KARACHI: Due to the surge in terror activities in Karachi, Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh Mushtaq Mahar has been removed from his office.

The development came after the third terror strike in a row in the past few days and Mushtaq Mahar has been directed to report to the establishment department.

The Sindh government handed over the charge of IG Sindh Police to Dr. Kamran Fazal, a BPS-21 police officer.

The sources said that the decision was taken on the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

Notably, Karachi has braved three recent terror attack in a short span of time that has shook the whole province.

Earlier, an important meeting on the law and order situation of Karachi was held under the chairmanship of Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday that was attended by Chief Secretary Sindh, DG Rangers, Principal Secretary, Home Secretary, Additional IGs and officers of intelligence agencies.

Murad Ali Shah asserted that he would not allow terror activities to take place in the province at any cost.
