Laura Castle confessed fatally shaking 13-month-old Leiland-James Corkill after “losing it” over his wailing, according to her lawyer.
Scott Castle, her husband, was cleared of causing or enabling his death in January 2021 at the couple’s house in Barrow, Cumbria.
Mrs. Castle, 38, was also found guilty of one count of child abuse at Preston Crown Court.
On May 25, she will be sentenced.
Cumbria County Council took Leiland-James into care two days after his birth on December 21, 2019, according to the court.
He moved in with the couple in August 2020, and within weeks Mrs. Castle was criticizing Leiland-James, calling him nasty names and a “moaning whinge bag,” and detailing how she had “totally leathered” him.
According to the court, social services were aware that the couple was having difficulty bonding with him, but there were no worries for his safety because no suspicious bruises or markings were spotted.
Mrs. Castle dialed 999 at 08:15 GMT on January 6, 2021, to report that her husband was unconscious and breathing uncomfortably after falling from the sofa.

The next day, at about 15:00 GMT, Leiland-James died at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, where specialists were skeptical of Mrs. Castle’s story.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), when it became evident that Mrs. Castle’s original explanation could not explain the youngster’s injuries, she checked the internet for what may cause a bleed on the brain and then told police a second tale during her interview.
On the first day of her trial, she confessed to manslaughter but said she had no intention of killing him.
She told the judge she had “lost her wits” when the kid was weeping and shook him to attempt to stop him.
