For 60 years, he was married to Ediofina del Rosario Garca. When Perez died in 1997, she was left alone and resentful. They had eleven children together. There are 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren in the family presently.

He claims that the secret to a long life is hard labour, “rest on holidays, going to bed early, drinking a glass of aguardiente every day, loving God, and constantly carrying Him in your heart.”
“My dad is in extremely good health,” his daughter, Nelyda Perez, said.
“He is free of any condition that necessitates medical attention,” she noted.
Perez wishes to be remembered as a Christian and diligent man who was committed to his wife, according to GWR.
