President Joe Biden will meet with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö at the White House on Thursday; as part of their push to join NATO following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The two countries’ applications to join the mutual defence alliance, as well as European security in general; according to the White House. Although Turkey expresses doubts, the proposals by the long-neutral nations to join NATO are generally seen with praise within the alliance as a rebuke of Russia.
Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, that the administration is “quite confident” that the two countries will agree to join the alliance.
